What we collect when you send us an enquiry, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
MKAT General Trading Suppliers (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2018/012765/07) is the responsible party for the personal information described in this notice. Our registered address is 4027 Nxumalo Street, Daveyton, 1520, South Africa.
This notice explains how we process personal information in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to send us through the enquiry forms on this website:
- Your name, and your company name where you provide it.
- Your email address and telephone number.
- The details of your requirement — the product, quantity, specification and timing you describe.
We do not use advertising trackers on this website, and we do not buy or otherwise obtain your details from third parties.
Why we use it
We use your information for one purpose: to understand your requirement and respond to it with a quotation or supply response, and to carry out any order that follows. This processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and to pursue our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.
We will not use your details for unrelated marketing without asking you first, and we do not sell personal information.
Who can see it
Your enquiry is seen by MKAT's directors and the staff handling your requirement. It is stored using Supabase, our database and file-storage provider, and enquiry notifications are delivered using Resend, our email provider. These operators process the information on our instruction and are bound to keep it confidential.
Where fulfilling your requirement means approaching a supplier on your behalf, we share only what is needed to source and price the goods — typically the specification and quantity, not your contact details, unless you ask us to introduce you directly.
These providers may store information on servers outside South Africa. We rely on their contractual data-protection commitments to ensure your information receives a comparable level of protection.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records for as long as needed to respond and to maintain the commercial relationship, and thereafter for the period required by South African tax and company law. Where an enquiry does not lead to business and there is no legal reason to retain it, you may ask us to delete it.
How we protect it
Enquiries are transmitted over an encrypted connection and delivered straight to our email. They are not stored in any separate database on this website. Access is limited to the people who need it in order to respond to you.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us to:
- Confirm what personal information we hold about you, and provide a copy of it.
- Correct or update anything that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete information where we no longer have a lawful reason to keep it.
- Object to processing that relies on our legitimate interest.
To make any of these requests, email sales@mkatsupplier.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable period, and we may need to verify your identity first.
